Samsung Announces New USB 3.0 External Hard Drives
Samsung Electronics will launch its new family of hard disk drives, including two portable drives and a desktop storage station. Supporting the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, these new external hard drives provide data transfer speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second, allowing users to transfer a 25GB full HD movie in just four minutes.
The entry-level M2 Portable comes with a wave-like matte finish that covers scratches and fingerprints, with curved sides for a comfortable grip. It is available in densities of up to 1TB, USB 2.0/3.0 interface, and four color options such as Brown Black, Noble Beige, Mist Gray and Clay Orange. The premium C2 Portable 3.0 features an iF award-winning design with a transparent high-gloss cover and an in-depth crystallized pattern. This premium series also comes with convenient back-up solution, Samsung Drive Manager, for an advanced user experience. Available in Mystic Gray and Ruby Red, the C2 Portable 3.0 supports a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface with up to 1TB of storage space.
The M3 Station is designed for desktop applications. This storage device has rounded corners that give it a slimmer form factor for less desktop space. There is also a LED light on the face of the drive that indicates the operation status. Available in Brown Black or Noble Beige, the Samsung M3 Station supports both USB 2.0/3.0 interfaces with up to 2TB of storage space. These new external hard drives will be released in Q2 2011. The M2 Portable series will be released in mid-April 2011, while the C2 Portable and M3 Station are expected to be available in May 2011. [Korea Times]
